Now they're just bad and complex But it's faster for me to write that way and to get something I like. And of course the drums at first were bad and simple.
I started writing in Guitar Pro in 2004 (Powertab in 2002 or 2003, but it doesn't have drums). I think it's partly due to my "background" with writing songs in Guitar Pro 3-4-5 and 7 from the very early days. as AI is getting really good in plug-ins as time passes. I curious of how EZ3 will automatically find beats when analyzing guitars, keys etc. Side advantage is make/finding something that I think is cooler than my initial idea can also happen and I'm ok with that. It's sort of a fun way for me but also helps if I need speedy delivery. With the tap2find I only play the kick and snare, get results to find whats near to what I'm looking, drag the midi to DAW (though SD is capable of editing I'm used to DAW editing) for then modify even merge stuff to my liking. I never had the patience to manually write drums but don't like copy/pasting midi stuff either. Needs more work on a few things, mind you: I don't ever really use the built-in groove library or pick grooves that way, I usually write them myself, fiddle with the velocity and timing manually in Reaper's midi editor etc. For someone who wants more control, I say SD. This is an 8 year old video, but in terms of difference, I think it still describes it well enough:įor ease of access and use I suggest EZ drummer as well. Want total control? Superior Drummer offers more Need to write/record a quick idea? Maybe EZ Drummer is fine. Different mic'ing, routing, effect strips and what not. Superior has A LOT of options and it's not only for someone who's just thinking "let me grab a quick drum beat and drop it on my track". Sure, some customization, but relatively simple compared to the bigger ones like Superior Drummer and possibly Steven Slate Drums (I don't remember if that is the one I'm thinking of). I think I'd compare EZ drummer to something like GetGoodDrums etc. Looks like they are adding features to ez 3 to make it more similar to superior. many folks cross grade to superior drummer at some point. Of course, now there there is a new Ez drummer on the way, a new superior drummer probably not far behindĮz drummer still one of the most simple and direct ways to get going with virtual drums.
